Auto-categorization is a heuristic keyword match, not a product-database lookup. It will occasionally mis-sort an item — every item is one tap to reassign, and unmatched items are always shown in Other / Not sorted, never hidden. The 22-section taxonomy follows Apple Reminders' common grocery categories, but your store's layout may differ; the aisle-order presets are a starting point, not gospel — pick the one that matches your walk path. The default perimeter-first order reflects the typical supermarket grid (produce and fresh perimeter first, center aisles in the middle, frozen near the end so cold items spend the least time in the cart); warehouse clubs and small markets vary. Quantities are display-only memory aids — the tool performs no unit conversion, no price math, and no totaling, so it will never tell you you need "3 gallons" from "1 gal + 2 gal". It only echoes what you typed. Everything is fully client-side: your list lives in the browser (in memory, plus local storage for preferences), nothing is uploaded, no account is required to use it, and closing the tab without exporting clears the working list.

Yes. Put a quantity at the start of a line (2 lb chicken breast, 3 cans tomatoes) and it shows next to the item as a memory aid. Quantities are display-only — the tool never sums, multiplies, or converts units, so it won't invent a total like "3 gallons" from "1 gal + 2 gal".
Matching is whole-word and most-specific-first, so "ham" won't match "hamburger" and "milk" won't match "buttermilk". Brands and unusual items can still mis-sort or land in "Other / Not sorted". Use the small section dropdown on any row to move it — your store's real layout always wins.
With De-duplicate on (the default), adding the same item name twice merges into an "x2" counter instead of a second row — directly targeting buying duplicates. Quantities aren't added together because units may differ. Turn it off to keep every line separate.
Your typed items and your aisle-order and toggle preferences save in your browser, so a refresh keeps them. In private/incognito mode storage may be unavailable — the tool still works but won't remember preferences. Use Copy or Print to keep a permanent copy before reset.
