Raffle Ticket Generator — how to use it

What it does

This free raffle ticket generator builds a print-and-cut PDF of uniquely numbered raffle tickets — right in your browser — for fundraisers, schools, churches, PTAs, sports boosters, and nonprofits. Each ticket has two halves: the keeper portion the buyer takes home and a tear-off stub that goes in the drawing bin. Both halves carry the same serial number, so when you draw a stub you can match it to exactly one sold ticket. Enter your event, prize, price, and a number range, choose a layout, and download a multi-page PDF with dashed cut lines and a perforation guide between each ticket and its stub.

How to use it

1. Enter your event or organization name (required) and your prize. Add a ticket price like $5 or 3 for $10.
2. Set the starting and ending numbers. The count is inclusive: 1 to 500 makes 500 tickets.
3. Optionally add the drawing date/location, a permit number, a “need not be present to win” note, and Name/Address/Phone/Email lines on the stub (on by default, since the bin half is what must capture the buyer's contact info — many states specifically require the purchaser's name, address, and phone on the stub).
4. Pick tickets per page (4, 8, or 10) and paper (Letter or A4). Watch the headline update: e.g. 500 tickets, #1a1a1a–#500, on 63 pages at 8 per page.
5. Click Download print-and-cut PDF, print on card stock, and cut along the dashed guides.

Worked example

A church festival wants 500 tickets at $5 each for a grand prize, drawn Aug 16. They set Event = St. Mary's Festival Raffle, Prize = $500 cash, Price = $5, Start = 1, End = 500, 8 per page, Letter. The headline reads 500 tickets, #1a1a1a–#500, on 63 pages at 8 per page (500 ÷ 8 = 62.5, rounded up to 63 sheets; the last sheet has 4 tickets and 4 blank cells). Because they typed a clean $5, the helper shows estimated max revenue $2,500.00; entering a $2,000 goal shows 400 tickets to sell to hit your goal (2000 ÷ 5 = 400). Every ticket prints its serial — zero-padded to match the widest number, so 1–500 prints as 001–500 for alignment — on both the keeper and the stub.

How the math works

• Total tickets = end − start + 1 (inclusive on both ends). Valid only when end ≥ start.
• Pages needed = total ÷ tickets-per-page, always rounded up — a partial last page still prints a full sheet, and leftover cells are left blank (never reused).
• Serial for ticket i = start + i. The identical value prints on the keeper and the stub.
• Zero-padding matches the widest number in your range (so 1–500 pads to width 3, 001–500; a range up to 1000 would pad to width 4) for visual alignment only — it is cosmetic, not part of the matching key.
• Revenue helper (when the price is a single clean number P): estimated max revenue = total × P; tickets to sell for goal G = ceil(G ÷ P).

Accuracy & legal disclaimer

This tool generates tickets only; it does not determine whether your raffle is legal, and this is not legal advice. Raffle laws vary by U.S. state and often by county or municipality. Many jurisdictions require a permit or license, restrict who may host a raffle, and mandate specific text on each ticket — commonly the host organization's name, the prize(s), the price (“cost of each chance”), the date and place of the draw, the permit/license number, purchaser name/address/phone on the stub, and a statement of whether the holder must be present to win. The defaults here aim at those common requirements, but exact required wording differs by state. Optional in this tool does not mean optional in your state — confirm your own jurisdiction's rules before selling tickets. Sizes follow common fundraiser conventions (standard two-part ticket ~2×8.5 in, single ~5.5×2 in); the generated layout approximates these on Letter/A4 and exact cut sizes depend on your per-page choice and printer. Everything is generated entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Best printed on 65–80 lb card stock; cut along the dashed guides or run a perforator down the vertical line so the stub tears cleanly. The serial number, not the zero-padding, is the matching key — both halves of a ticket always carry the identical number.

Common mistakes this tool helps you avoid

• Mismatched halves — a ticket where the keeper and stub show different numbers can't be matched at the draw. This tool always prints identical serials on both halves.
• Off-by-one counting — 1 to 500 is 500 tickets, not 499 (the range is inclusive on both ends).
• Rounding pages down — a partial last page still needs a full sheet, so pages always round up.
• Contact fields on the wrong half — Name/Address/Phone/Email belong on the drop-in stub (the bin half), so you can reach the winner. This tool puts them there.
• Dropping required legal text because the field was optional — permit number, draw date/location, and the present-to-win note are required in many states.
• Pricing “3 for $10” as a number — type the exact text you want printed; the revenue estimate only shows for a single clean number.
• Setting an enormous range (tens of thousands) and expecting instant output — large batches are memory- and time-heavy in the browser. Split into smaller rolls.
