How the math works
Scale factor = new servings ÷ original servings (e.g. 6 ÷ 4 = 1.5).
Each line's quantity × scale factor; fractions and mixed numbers are parsed first.
Unit conversion (optional): every volume is normalized to milliliters, then expressed in your target unit. (1 tsp = 4.929 ml, 1 tbsp = 14.79 ml, 1 cup = 236.6 ml, 1 fl oz = 29.57 ml.)
Rounding: "nice" snaps to common kitchen fractions (¼, ⅓, ½, ⅔, ¾); or pick 2 decimals / exact.
Worked example
Scaling a 4-serving recipe to 6 servings (factor 1.5):
2 cups flour → 2 × 1.5 = 3 cups.
1 1/2 tsp baking powder → 1.5 × 1.5 = 2¼ tsp.
2 eggs → 2 × 1.5 = 3 eggs (round whole — you can't add half an egg easily).
